It standardizes test methods, report formats and marking specifications for directional portable light sources such as flashlights, headlamps and weapon lights.This standard establishes unified testing and labeling rules for key performance metrics: luminous flux (lumens), beam distance (meters), peak beam intensity (candela), runtime, impact resistance, and ingress protection against water and dust.Compliance Risk Reminder: Falsely advertised performance parameters such as lumen output may trigger lawsuits related to trademark infringement and unfair competition. Manufacturers are advised to commission accredited laboratories to conduct actual testing in accordance with ANSI/PLATO FL 1 and issue formal reports to validate advertised specifications.(2) Safety Certification: UL Standards
