Semiconductor laser rangefinder GB/T 29299-2012 testing

1、 Standard Basic Information

GB/T 29299-2012 "General Technical Conditions for Semiconductor Laser Rangefinders" was released on December 31, 2012 and officially implemented 

on June 1, 2013. This standard is applicable to various types of semiconductor laser ranging instruments, and specifies product requirements, test methods, 

inspection rules, packaging, transportation, and labeling.


2、 Terminology and definitions

Laser rangefinder: refers to a photoelectric instrument that uses laser as a light source to measure the distance of a target.

Semiconductor laser rangefinder: refers to a laser rangefinder instrument that uses semiconductor laser as a light source.

Maximum range: The farthest distance that can be detected when the specified target reaches the specified ranging accuracy under specified atmospheric 

conditions.

Minimum range: The closest distance that can be detected when the specified target reaches the specified ranging accuracy under specified atmospheric 

conditions.

Ranging accuracy: the error between the measured target distance and the calibrated target distance.

Distance measurement repetition frequency: the number of distance measurements completed per second.

Accuracy rate: The probability of a laser rangefinder achieving the specified ranging accuracy.


3、 Technical requirements

Safety: Electrical safety shall comply with the provisions of GB/T 10320; Laser safety should comply with the provisions of GB 7247.1.

Weight and appearance: The weight and external dimensions should meet the product design requirements; The coating/plating should be firm, without 

fading or peeling; The surface is free of defects such as scratches, cracks, shrinkage, sharp notches, paint peeling, distortion, etc.

Power adaptability: It should be able to work normally under the conditions of 220 × (1 ± 10%) V and 50Hz when powered by AC; When powered by 

batteries, the number of normal distance measurements or continuous working time should be provided within the rated voltage fluctuation range.

Reverse polarity protection: The polarity of the power supply should be clearly marked, and it should not be damaged when the power supply is reversed.

Function display: The display content should be clear and bright, including at least preparation display, distance display, overtravel display, and power low 

voltage display.

Internal cleanliness: The optical system should be free of dust and sediment; Foreign objects are strictly prohibited in the inner cavity; Excess items should 

be cleaned thoroughly.


4、 Performance requirements

Maximum range: Recommended series includes 50 m、100m、150m、200m、300m、500m、800m、1000m、1500m、2000m、3000m、5000m、8000m、

10000m、15000m、20000m、25000m、30000m  And above.

Minimum measurement range: determined according to product design.

Distance measurement accuracy: Within the specified range, the measurement error should meet the requirements of absolute error or mean square error.

Ranging repetition frequency: according to product design requirements.

Accuracy rate: The accuracy rate should not be less than 95%.

Laser beam divergence angle: tested according to GB/T 13739.


5、 Environmental adaptability requirements

Low temperature test: Conduct low temperature and low temperature storage tests according to GB/T 12085.2. The performance during the test should 

meet the functional display requirements, and the basic performance after the test should meet the distance measurement accuracy requirements, and 

there should be no defects such as delamination, cracking, frosting, or failure.

High temperature test: Conduct high temperature and high temperature storage tests according to GB/T 12085.2. The performance during the test 

should meet the functional display requirements, and there should be no defects such as grease overflow, coating detachment, delamination, water 

vapor, or display failure after the test.

Rain test: conducted according to GB/T 12085.7. The performance after the test should meet the requirements of distance measurement accuracy, 

without internal water ingress, optical component moisture, insulation failure, metal corrosion, and other phenomena.

Mold growth test: According to GB/T 12085.11, it should meet the specified mold growth test level.

Vibration test: conducted in accordance with GB/T 4857.10. It should be able to withstand mechanical vibrations in transportation and usage environments, 

and its performance after testing should meet the requirements of distance measurement accuracy.

Drop test: conducted in accordance with GB/T 4857.5. The performance after the test should meet the requirements of distance measurement accuracy, 

the packaging box should not be severely damaged, and the product should not be damaged.


6、 Test method

Safety test: Electrical safety shall be conducted in accordance with the methods specified in GB/T 10320; Laser safety shall be carried out according to

 the methods specified in GB 7247.1.

Weight and appearance test: conducted by visual inspection and measurement methods.

Power adaptability test: Conduct the test within the range of power fluctuations.

Reverse connection protection test: Reverse the power supply and hold it for 60 seconds.

Maximum and minimum range tests: Set the specified target on the calibration tripod and measure the distance at the specified repetition frequency. 

When the repetition frequency is less than 10Hz, measure the distance for 20 seconds and no less than 4 times; When the repetition frequency is greater 

than or equal to 10Hz, measure distance for 10 seconds; During a single distance measurement, the continuous distance measurement should not be less 

than 50 times.

Distance measurement accuracy test: When using the absolute error method, the absolute value of the difference between the measured value and the 

calibration value should not exceed the specified value; When using the mean square error method, the mean square error should not exceed the specified 

value.

Distance measurement repetition frequency test: measured with a frequency meter. When the repetition frequency is less than 5Hz, measure distance for 20 

seconds and no less than 50 times; When the repetition frequency is greater than or equal to 5Hz, measure the distance for 10 seconds.

Accurate measurement rate test: The calculation formula for accurate measurement rate is Pc=n ᵢ/n, where n ᵢ is the number of distance measurements 

required to achieve the specified accuracy, and n is the total number of distance measurements. The accuracy rate should not be less than 95%.

Laser beam scattering angle test: conducted according to the method specified in GB/T 13739.

Environmental adaptability test: Conduct low and high temperature according to GB/T 12085.2; Raining shall be carried out in accordance with GB/T 12085.7; 

Mold growth shall be carried out according to GB/T 12085.11; Vibration shall be carried out in accordance with GB/T 4857.10; Drop shall be carried out in 

accordance with GB/T 4857.5.

Reliability test: Conduct according to the method specified in GB/T 5080.1.


7、 Inspection rules

Appraisal inspection: Conducted during product finalization, batch production can only be carried out after passing.

Type inspection: Conducted when there are changes in product structure, process, materials, or when resuming production.

Factory inspection: Products are inspected in batches before leaving the factory.

Sampling plan: Follow the provisions of GB/T 2828.1 or GB/T 2829.

Inspection item grouping:

The inspection items of Group A include safety, weight and appearance, power adaptability, reverse protection, functional display, internal cleanliness, 

maximum and minimum measuring range, distance measurement accuracy, and accuracy rate.

The inspection item for Group B is the repetition frequency of distance measurement.

The inspection items of Group C include laser beam divergence, low temperature, high temperature, vibration, and drop.

The inspection items for group D are mold growth and reliability.

The inspection item for Group E is rain exposure.


8、 Reliability requirements

When the distance measurement repetition frequency is greater than or equal to 5Hz, the average time between failures should not be less than 200 hours.

When the distance measurement repetition frequency is less than 5Hz, the average number of fault distance measurements should not be less than 50000 times.


9、 Packaging, transportation, and labeling

Packaging: It should comply with the provisions of GB/T 13384, and the packaging should include a product packing list, certificate of conformity, and 

user manual.

Transportation: should be protected from rain, sun, and impact; Do not mix with flammable, explosive or corrosive materials; The height of the container 

stack shall not exceed 2 meters.

Logo: It should include information such as production year, serial number, manufacturer, weight, and external dimensions.
