1、 Introduction to ASME A112.18.1
Full name of the standard: Plumbing Supply Fitting, water supply pipeline fittings
The American National Standard, developed by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and recognized by ANSI, is the core performance standard for bathroom water supply fittings in North America; It is the same dual country coordination standard as CSA B125.1, with two numbers and completely identical technical content. When referring to ASME A112.18.1 separately, it represents the version aimed at the US market. Current commonly used version: ASME A112.18.1-2018; The latest version of ASME A112.18.1-2024.
2、 Standard purpose
The material, structure, performance requirements, testing methods, and product labeling of drinking water supply terminal accessories are specified to ensure product pressure resistance, leak resistance, service life, anti backflow pollution, and anti scalding. At the same time, the outflow flow rate is controlled to meet the UPC and IPC water supply and drainage specifications in the United States, which is the basis for UPC/cUPC certification of products such as faucets and showerheads.
3、 Scope of application
Suitable for water supply fittings between the shut-off valve and the terminal outlet:
-Basin faucet, kitchen faucet, bathtub shower water supply valve
-Shower head, handheld shower head, body shower head
-Angle valve (water supply shut-off valve), delay/self closing faucet, commercial pre flushing spray gun
-Washing machine water supply accessories, water dispenser water supply accessories, basin water supply valves, etc.

4、 Key points of core technology
1. Flow testing: Test the water flow rate at a pressure of 60 psi and control the water-saving limit;
2. Water pressure and sealing: static pressure strength test, leakage test under working pressure, no rupture or leakage is allowed;
3. Durability life of valve core: Ordinary single handle faucets require 500000 cycles of opening and closing, with no water leakage or jamming after testing;
4. Cold and hot shock: alternating high and low temperature water shock, the valve body and ceramic should not crack or leak;
5. Anti backflow/anti siphon: prevent sewage from flowing back and polluting municipal drinking water, a mandatory safety item in the United States;
6. Anti scald: pressure balance valve, constant temperature shower valve, limit the maximum temperature of the effluent;
7. Mechanical strength: Thread torque test to prevent thread slippage and valve body cracking;
8. Surface corrosion resistance: durability assessment of plating/coating;
9. Water related materials: Components that come into contact with water must meet NSF/ANSI 61 standards to control lead precipitation;
10. Identification: The product must have a permanent nameplate marking.
5、 Market application
The American Building Water Supply and Drainage Code requires bathroom water supply fittings to meet this standard; The product has passed the ASME A112.18.1 test and can obtain UPC/cUPC listing, entering the US engineering and building materials market.
